There was a two vehicle accident on Augusta Road which resulted in the death of an Iva man on Thursday afternoon.
Lance Cpl. David Jones, of the Highway Patrol, said that the accident happened at the intersection of Augusta Road, U.S. Highway 25, and Garrison Road in Pelzer. It involved a 1991 Honda driven by David Scott Flowers and a 1997 Chevy pickup truck driven by a 46 year old Easley man. It appears that the pickup truck drove into the back of the Honda
Park Evans, Greenville County Coroner, said that Flowers, 41, of Gerdie Simpson Road had to be extricated from the vehicle and died about 30 minutes after the 1:20 p.m. accident at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He went on to say that the cause of death is pending but that Flowers was wearing a seat belt.
The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol at this time.
