A crash in Lenoir Country on Wednesday night leaves two people dead.
According to the Highway Patrol the two vehicle accident happened just before 5 p.m. west of Kinston on U.S. 70. They said that 80 year old Tharen Taylor, of Deep Run, pulled out of the Bojangles’ parking lot near Skinner’s Bypass in a Honda, when her vehicle was hit by a pick-up truck.
Both Tharen and her husband, John Taylor, aged 83, who was a passenger in the car, were killed.
Another passenger in their vehicle, 84 year old Hazel Smith of Deep Run, who is Tharen Taylor’s sister, was flown to Vidant Medical Center where she is said to be in stable condition.
Troopers said the driver of the pick-up truck, whose name has not yet been released, was alert and talking after the wreck. He was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and is not thought to be facing any charges.
Highway Patrol says that there have been 35 accidents in that area over the past two years although this is the first fatality.
