Man Dies in Accident with Tractor Trailer

On Tuesday, March 10, 34 year old Jason Matthew Jenkins died in an accident with a tractor trailer.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Jenkins had returned to the Phoenix Center to leave his work phone there and was headed home when the accident happened near the Center in Travelers Rest. It appears that Jenkins pulled out from Foot Hills Road onto U.S. 25 Bypass into the path of a tractor trailer that was traveling south.

The tractor trailer collided with Jenkins’ vehicle on the driver’s side and pushed the automobile across the roadway and down an embankment on the opposite side of the road. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene with the autopsy stating cause of death was blunt force trauma to the torso.

Although the Coroner’s Office ruled his death an accident, the Travelers Rest Police Department and Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating.

Since April 2010, Jenkins had been working as the adolescent residential services supervisor at White Horse Academy, which is part of the Phoenix Center, a nonprofit agency that provides substance abuse services.
