On Monday, February 23, there was a deadly motor vehicle collision.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the accident happened at around 5 p.m. in the area of 2956 New Easley Highway. It appears that two vehicles were driving east on New Easley Highway, then one of the vehicles wanted to turn and so it pulled into the median crossover. However the second vehicle could not stop and hit the vehicle which was turning. It then went into the traffic coming in the opposite direction and hit a third vehicle.
The driver of the third vehicle was 56 year old, Andrzej Zalecki, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Several of those in the other vehicles were injured and taken to Greenville Memorial although the extent of their injuries and current conditions are unknown.
All of the southbound lanes on the highway were closed to clear the wreck and for South Carolina Highway Patrol to carry out the investigation.
