There was a fatal accident in Onslow County on Saturday night.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, it was around 7 p.m. when two cars collided three miles Northwest of Jacksonville, at the intersection of Pony Farm Road and U.S. 258 at a stop light. The vehicles were a 1995 Chevy truck driven by 16 year old Alex Vaughan and a 1997 Honda Civic driven by Matthew Nuckles, aged 24.
Following the crash, four passengers in the Civic were taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital with injuries after the crash. However, 50 year old Thomas Franklin Nuckles Junior died, due to the injuries he received in the crash. Police said that he was not wearing a seatbelt. Two of the passengers in the back seat who were also unrestrained, suffered internal injuries and a broken leg.
The driver and passenger in the Chevy were uninjured.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing to try and discover who was responsible. The results have been delayed as there are conflicting stories from the witnesses to the incident as to which driver had right of way at the time of the collision.
