On Monday a Greenville man was killed and two children were injured.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. when 37 year old Scott R. Hartman from Greenville was driving a 2008 four door Saturn westbound on Interstate 40.
For some reason, the car went off the side of the highway then hit the guardrail and went down an embankment, becoming airborne over Big Creek Road.
The car landed the right way up between I 40 and the 447 ramp. Hartman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected in the crash and killed.
Also in the vehicle were two children, 5 year old Riley Hartman and 4 year old Mason Hartman. Neither of them was secured in child restraint devices and Riley was also ejected from the vehicle.
Both children were taken to hospital although the extent of their injuries is unknown.
Tests will be carried out on Hartman to ascertain whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
