On Friday, June 12, a motorcyclist died in a crash.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 9.30 p.m. at the intersection of East Belvedere Road and Plainfield Circle, about two miles south of Greenville. Troopers went on to say that 57 year old Jeffrey D. James of Foxhall Road, Greenville was riding north of East Belvedere Road on his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it appears he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side. He then traveled off the road ending up in the bottom of a rocky creek.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma. His death was ruled an accident but an autopsy examination was scheduled.
Both the coroner’s office and the Highway Patrol carried out an investigation into the accident.
