An accident just outside of Anderson led to the death of a teenager and the injury of another on Saturday night.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, John Henry Horton IV of Manning was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup about one and a half miles north of Anderson when he and a 22-year-old man driving a 1995 Buick collided at U.S. 76 and Clemson Boulevard. Horton’s vehicle then overturned, and he was partially ejected.
Anderson County Coroner said that Horton, a student at Laurence Manning Academy, died at the scene and a 17 year old Sumter boy, who was a passenger in his vehicle, was treated at AmMed in Anderson and released.
The boys were driving back from the Clemson-North Carolina State football game and Horton’s father was a few cars behind when the accident happened.
