Early Wednesday morning, in front of Riverside Middle School on Hammett Bridge Road, firefighters were called to a car fire.
Bystanders helped the driver and rear seat passenger out of the car, but the front seat passenger was trapped inside and died. The driver was taken to hospital where he unfortunately died and the third person was flown to the August Burn Center in Georgia.
The driver was Andrew Chase Jackson, aged 16 and from Greer. Lt. Jim Holcombe from Greer police said that he did not have a driver’s license or a learner’s permit.
The passenger who died was sitting in the front seat and died of blunt force trauma to the chest. He was 17 year old Aaron Jeffrey Al-Rawi Jones, of Taylors.
Holcombe said the car was not reported stolen and they estimate was travelling at between 70 and 80 mph in a 35 mph area.
