On Wednesday February 3, there was a traffic accident following a shooting in Greenville.
According to police the accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Greene Street and Airport Road in Greenville.
A gold minivan being driven by Vernon Bryant of Greenville was heading west on Airport Road and ran a red light and smashed into a LP gas truck which was traveling on Greene Street. The woman passenger in the minivan was 30 year old Nyehia Redmond of Washington and she was suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm. She told the police that another car was chasing them she and Bryant were taken to Vidant Medical Center with non life threatening injuries where she is said to be in a fair condition. The driver of the LP truck was uninjured.
Bryant was charged with running a red light and careless and reckless driving but it is not yet known who was shooting or where it happened.
